Roo Coffee + Trois Familia, Silverlake

This week I ventured off from the West Side to explore Silverlake, a neighborhood I don’t go to very often. Driving there is a painnnnn in the booty. That’s the annoying part about living in LA. It’s hard to get off the couch and meet up with friends when they live in what seems like the other side of the world. Or at least the other side of LA.

To start off this adventurous day, me and my friend got lunch at Trois Familia. I’d been there once before, but now it is completely redone and the menu is constantly changing. I’m not a huuuuge fan of the place, because the portions are so teeny weeny. However, the chicken milanesa was pretty good. It had cucumber and radish on it!

Afterwards, we walked around a bit. We stopped in several shops, and took a mini photoshoot on the Micheltorena Stairs. If you’re looking to find this hidden spot, I gotchu. Put 3324 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles into your GPS.

We spent the next half hour debating which coffee shop we should go to: Dinosaur Coffee or Roo Coffee. When in doubt, go to both!

Dinosaur Coffee was packed. I definitely preferred Roo Coffee for the menu and the overall vibe. But who knows, maybe I just went on a bad day.

I am obsessed with Roo. It is so me! Between the unique latte flavors and pink aesthetic, I could spend every morning there. It’s an Australian coffee shop so a lot of their drinks have milo in it. I didn’t know what that was and pronounced it wrong when asking the barista about it (oops). She said it is equivalent to Ovaltine in the U.S. You learn something knew every day! Roo always has specialty lattes. When we went, they had a cookie flavor! They also have CBD infused drinks and fairy bread (buttered bread and sprinkles). Talk about YUM! I ordered a macadamia nut latte.

Most importantly, I definitely recommend Silverlake for the restaurants. I’ve been to a few, but definitely not enough. They have some really cool ones! If you have any suggestions of what to check out next time, let me know ❤
